grateful to be, grateful to see

seeing is magic. but so is writing. and so is language and the many forms of communication and interaction with the world and each-other takes.

1:11 on the clock as i am writing this. yay :D i love number sequences hahah

anyway... today has been a day overall where i have extra gratitude and awareness for being able sighted. i just love to see! there's so much beauty around. when I got this thought and wanted to write it down, I found myself looking up at the sky. the prettiest hue of blue. at least right now, because that's the one that i'm currently experiencing. but other times of the day the sky is the prettiest too. this one is a dark yet lit up sky. the moon lights it up. it looks huge tonight. last night it looked even bigger and i am truly in awe. viva la luna !!! the stars around it are comforting. they feel so familiar. they remind me of many moments, many memories of other good times looking at the sky. some with friends around, some with no one around, some with my brother who loves to talk about the stars, and i love when he does so and tells me what he knows about them. i remember two specific times looking at the sky with him. one was on a big rock by the water. big waves. great company. i also remember a time at summer camp when i was younger. on a big field in the forest. so sweet. some of the arrangements in the sky made up of stars i feel like are always there and have always been. they feel like companions in this journey. and so yeah, I just love that I can see. I can see into the eyes of others too which sometimes feels like magic. like they hold a special light. seeing flowers and their magical palettes of colors, and the conforming designs. flowers add a special touch to the scene, they light it up and fill it with joy. but so do trees, and rivers, elephants and bees. I also love seeing the movement of water. and how it reflects the things around it creating a magic painting. or the sight of drops falling onto more water. thank you water !!!

the visual world seems like a never-ending painting that i get to see with my eyes. a mix of shadows and lights forming a world i can see and explore. what a joy to see nature and its beings. and some of the creations of the passengers of earth are also a gift to be able to enjoy visually.

the unseen world to me has also always been very interesting to experience and explore too. that one might be much more personal but who knows !

this week at the library i picked up a book called "el mundo conectado por seis puntos" (the world connected by six dots) and it inspired me to learn braille, which i had already thought of doing before. so that is something i'm currently working on and exited about. i not only believe in inclusivity but also i love languages and find them really magical like all writing. and well after all writing does help us communicate with each other and are a way for us keep track of and share experiences for others to be able to explore.

there are so many languages and ways of expressing ourselves. we have body language, facial cues, sign language, writing and the different alphabets and languages, symbols, icons, even technology has languages. the list goes on... but if you look back at that list, you'll find most of the languages and ways of communicating require to be able to see. except for spoken language or sounds. and then, we have the tactile world, and there we find braille. as i read the book i previously mentioned, i learned that this writing system was designed by a being who lost sight. before, there was a 12 point system, then through him was birth the now known braille 6 point system which allows for visually impaired people to be able to have more access to the world of writing and be able to participate more in it as well as enrich themselves from it. it is exiting to find ways for more of the beings in this world to explore it to the fullest no matter which the senses they get to experience or not and the thought of making more parts of the world accessible to more beings that reside on this mysterious magic journey. viva la writing !! and thank you sight, and thank you to all the senses i have that let me interact with and experience earth. thank you life for another day, another moon, and words to say.
